The Gardener and The Birder

hydrangea border
These lush gardens were designed and are tended by Master Gardener Joyce Jenks and her husband Roger, an avid birder and woodcarver. Marvel at over 90 hydrangeas including mopheads and lacecaps, Annabelles, oakleafs and PeeGees, along with an unusual pink climbing hydrangea.  Relax on comfortable garden benches and view ferns, hostas, and other colorful foliage plants while Roger describes birds attracted to the birdbaths and feeders.  Walk stone paths past the blooms of daylilies and perennials.  Joyce will share her thoughts for creating lowest maintenance, manageable gardening with plants chosen for their difficult combination of sand and clay soil.  These gardens have been continuously created since the Jenks retired to their property seven short years ago.  Hand-painted hydrangea shell ornaments and hand-carved hydrangea pins will be offered for sale.
